Strengthening Health Services in Remote Rukum East
Remoteness remains a major barrier to accessing quality health services in Rukum East. However, the continued commitment and collaboration between the government and MIC Nepal/Sambodhan Project are creating meaningful change.
A series of health service strengthening activities were successfully conducted in Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality from Baisakh 4–9, 2083, under the leadership of the rural municipality, in coordination with the Health Office Rukum East, and with the support of MIC Nepal/Sambodhan Project.

Minimum Service Standards (MSS) assessments were carried out across five key health facilities: Takshera, Maikot, Hukam, and Ransi Health Posts, and Kol Primary Health Center. Among them, Hukam Health Post (88%) and Kol Primary Health Center (85%) demonstrated strong performance, reflecting steady progress in improving service delivery even in the most remote areas.
This initiative highlights how coordinated efforts can overcome geographical challenges and contribute to improved quality of care, strengthened data systems, and more effective local health services.
